Gautier Middle School Reviews

I love teaching at GMS. We have problems. That's true. Every school does now. However, we work hard here as a team to cope with those problems. Learning is important, and we focus on doing just that every day in class. We encourage children to believe in themselves and to celebrate their uniquenesses. Every child I teach is 'my' child. I am happy to say that I have found that to be the belief of the vast majority of teachers here as well as myself.

I attend Gautier Middle School. I am a straight 'A' student, and I am an over achiever. The school offers only 3 advanced classes for students and does not challenge students who are driven to learn. As of now, students are not allowed to go to the restroom alone due to the fact that students are using the restroom on the floor along with the fact that they are destroying school property. Now, teachers have to take the whole entire class to the restroom. Most of my teachers have quit taking the whole class to the restroom because they do not know how to behave in the hall way. We do not have any textbooks as well. However, I thank God for every teacher at that school because they are trying their best.

I am a eighth grade student here at Gautier Middle school and I moved here from AZ last year. At first I didn't like the school because of all the rules but if you behave and do what you're supposed to then there won't be a problem. Everyone is very nice to you. We have had a superior band for the last 30 years all thanks to the wonderful band directors. They also have a lot of extracurricular acivities that are a lot a fun. The pricibles are a little strict but through the school year they loosen up. Parent involvment is good too. They do a good job keeping the parents up to date. The only thing I don't like is the bathroom rule. You're only allowed to use the bathroom the first and last 15 minutes of class, and usually there is quite a few kids.

I have lived in Gautier since before my children started school. My oldest two attend GMS and I feel the schools in our District are more concerned about uniforms and what a child is wearing than they are about their education. If you want for your children to be written up and suspended because of the color of their belt or the color/type of their socks... then this is the school for you! I feel our school and school district could care more, do more, and be more open with parents. Try and talk to one of these beloved administrators about their policies and see how open their communication really is.

my daughter goes to this school and she enjoys learning there. the teachers are terrific they give updates on her grades and offer to help whenever needed. i am very proud to say that my daughter goes to this school.

Between the 3 middle schools I have dealt with during raising my children, I have found that GMS is superior overall. All the rules and expectations are written out so that everyone will know what is expected and what the consequence will be for the infraction. The handbook doesn't leave room for questions. They enforce the handbook and never leave to question the child's education.

Gautier Middle School has provided my child, who has special health concerns, with an excellent education. Beyond that, the teachers and staff have also helped her to build self-confidence and work to achieve goals. I am grateful for everything the school has offered my child in the way of consistent discipline, accountability, and promotion of academic excellence.

I don't like this school at all it is the worst school ever with a very bad education. My son got bladder problems because they are only alowed to go to the restroom the last 10 min of some classes with 20-30 students in a class that is hardly possible. And whats this with this uniform thing.

We are so pleased with GMS! Dr. Parker (principal), assistant principals, and counselors are great administrators! They have had several times for parents to come to the school and have meetings and workshops. The discipline is so much better with Dr. Parker at the helm. He is consistent and fair. The sixth grade teachers have been wonderful. We were afraid of the transition from elementary to middle school; however, it is so much better than I ever dreamed! I appreciate the extra activities that the school does for students who are 'well-behaved' or make good grades.
